Marilyn has a lifelong history of creative artistry. Since early childhood she has always been highly active in various art forms. At the age of 12, she painted murals of horses and landscapes on her bedroom walls, often singing her heart out while she worked. Around 20, her love for art expanded even further, as she had picked up the banjo, playing it late into the night!
As she continued her passion for the arts, it was evident to her parents that Marilyn would undoubtedly be continuing in this direction for her career. Doing what she could to encourage Marilyn at an early age, Marilyn’s mother taught her how to sew and make her own clothing. Marilyn took to it quickly and eagerly. So as an homage to her mother, Marilyn decided to use her mother’s maiden name Hollingsworth when she started her own business.
Later on, in the early 1980’s, as she continued to work as an illustrator artist and lead musician in her own band, she would design and make pants, shirts, jackets, belts, etc. for her and her bandmates as well as for friends and family. Throughout this time, she was also commissioned to make custom designed clothing, jackets, accessories as well as horse tac and various unique specialty leather work.
Over the years Marilyn has developed her artistry as she gained extensive experience and knowledge to which she has become acclaimed for; her music, which has been played all over the world, her artwork which has been sold at auctions for many charitable foundations and ultimately, her love of creating apparel and accessories, with an attention to detail, quality, comfort and beauty.
The love of the arts naturally brings a deep appreciation for the world we live in. This appreciation is the fuel behind her artistic creativity.
